Guitar Hero: World Tour – Drum Kit MIDI Note List

I’ve been spending the holidays with the family, in a house which has a proper electronic drum kit, so of course we tried plugging it in to the Guitar Hero: World Tour kit. After googling around for a couple of hours I couldn’t find a list of the note values for the MIDI input, so I went through and found them by trial and error.

0. Kick: 36 or 41
1. Red: 38
2. Yellow: 46
3. Blue: 48
4. Orange: 49
5. Green: 45

Playing World Tour drums on a higher-end kit is great fun, super accurate, if you’re looking for apartment-friendly drumming it can be even quieter than World Tour’s kit. Oh yeah!

Bike Hero!

Here at Herovision World HQ we’re not so keen on, y’know, outside. Outside is the lair of the burny burny Day Star, which makes it generally quite an unpleasant place to be.

So if you have to travel via bike, night is the time to do it, and listening to The Living End while riding a Guitar Hero track is how to do it.

Herovision Full-Test Party

After a few more weeks of soldering, cabling, and more often then not getting distracting actually playing Rock Band / Guitar Hero, we’ve managed to put together a pretty decent working beta that we’re pretty happy with. We tested it all with a celebration of good people, good food, good drink and good fun at Jaymis’ place. It’ll all be tweaked a bit more before a live public event for the Game-On Exhibition Party next Saturday. See pics and the full set here.

Herovision-Prototyping…the beginning

It all must start somewhere. And so it did, with a guitar-hero controller, friendly thermo-plastic, a number of cameras, and an idle thursday afternoon. We experimented with cabling, feedback, visual effects, and camera mounting. Jaymis’ trusty Vixid VJX16-4 mixer provided the centre piece, and we realised the awesome power of this device.
